With JAR 66 requirements now in force in the airline maintenance industry, infoWERK,
along with working partners Austrian Airlines and aircraft manufacturer Fairchild
Dornier,
saw an opportunity to develop a state-of-the-art JAR 66 training program.
To take on this formidable challenge, the three companies formed a new business
called LINK & LEARN.
According to LINK & LEARN managing director Harald Strehling,
“With the increasing complexity of aviation technology and knowledge
requirements, it was necessary to develop new ways of presenting the required
training content”.
Drawing on the extensive training experience of both Austrian Airlines and
Fairchild Dornier,
and the software development know-how of infoWERK, the new program will use
a multimedia approach,
encompassing self-paced web-based training, a learning management system (LMS)
developed by infoWERK, classroom seminars, practical training, reviews and stage
exams.
Strehling points out that an important part of the program is the interaction
between students
and the “teletrainer”, an online tutor who is available
to track the student’s progress, answer questions
and process comments. This feedback is based on questions from the students
and from exam results.
Additionally, the response from students, instructors and aviation authorities
can be used
to continually update program material and improve the program structure.
Director Strehling is pleased with the program.
“We think this training program really works. We have put together
an effective training incorporating the latest web-based methodology, enhanced
by one-on-one training seminars and testing. The result is less costly, more
effective training”.
