e-learning, also known as “distance learning”,   "online learning" or "web-based training”,
is defined by the American Society for Training & Development as
“structural content or learning experiences delivered or enabled by electronic technologies”.
These experiences and content may include internet or intranet courses,
LAN-based courses, streaming audio or video, delivered in real time or  “on demand”.

e-learning is one of the fastest-growing and most exciting developments in adult education.
